Arlington, TX--The last two weeks have been turbulent for the Dallas Wings. The team is mired in a nine game losing streak and is barely hanging on to last last playoff spot. The team relieved Head Coach, Fred Williams of his duties after an altercation with the team president. All Stars, Liz Cambage and Skylar Diggins-Smith, missed games due to injury.
Now Liz Cambage dropped a bombshell in a recent interview that she may not return to the team in 2019 despite signing a multi-year contract.
Camabge, who plays in China and for the Australian National Team, is unhappy with the pay, officiating, travel in the WNBA.
She is considering playing in Europe when her Chinese team contract expires. "I can make 10 years of salary in one year in Europe," said Cambage.
If Cambage leaves, it would be devastating to the Wings and the WNBA. She currently leads the league in scoring with an average of 22.8 points per game and is second in rebounding with 9.7 per game. Earlier in the year, she broke the WNBA's single-game scoring record by racking up 53 points against New York on July 17.
Friday's home game against the Las Vegas Aces might be the last time Wings' fans will see Cambage in a Dallas uniform. Stay tuned.
