The Dallas Wings exploded for 108 points in their win over the Chicago Sky Tuesday night. The Wings shot 57% from the field and 39.1% from three point land. Skylar Diggins-Smith (20) and Liz Cambage (37) combined for 57 points. Here's my game takeaways:
1) When Cambage & Diggins-Smith combine for 50 points
or more, the Wings typically win. The duo is averaging
nearly 40 points a game.
2) The Wings still play less than stellar perimeter defense.
Sky guards, Diamond DeShields (20) and Allie Quigley
(18) shot 14-28. Many of their shots were wide open.
3) The Wings improved their post entry passes and
Cambage made quicker decisions to pass or shoot.
4) The Wings starting and substitutions patterns are still
not set. Stevens came off the bench after several
starts. Davis got extended playing time after a DNP
against the Lynx. Glory Johnson started after coming
off the bench all season.
5) The Wings are wildly inconsistent on both ends of the
the court.
6) Liz Cambage is an MVP Candidate averaging 20.8
points a game (2nd) and 9.9 rebounds a game (2nd).
She outplayed reigning MVP, Sylvia Fowles, Sunday unti
an injury ended her night early.
7) Cayla George only plays 8-10 minutes a game, but she
is very effective. She may be the team's best long
range shooter. George is a perfect role player.
