The Minnesota Lynx (9-0) beat the Dallas Wings 91-74 (4-6) before 3,998 at College Park Center in Arlington, TX.
It was a special night as the WNBA and Wings honored the legendary Nancy Lieberman, at halftime, for her contributions to basketball as a player, coach, and executive. Lieberman is considered one of the greatest women to ever play the game. She gave a resounding speech before accepting a framed jersey with her name on it from WNBA President, Lisa Borders.
The Minnesota inside game proved to much for the scrappy, but undersized Wings to overcome. The Lynx scored 50 points in the paint and were led by 6-6 Sylvia Fowles who scored 30 points and snared 9 rebounds. Fowles had 19 points by halftime and had Theresa Plaisance in foul trouble. Maya Moore added 23 points and Rebekkah Brunson posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Karima Christmas-Kelly led the Wings with 21 points. Allisha Gray had 14 points and Skylar Diggins-Smith scored 11 points.
The Wings head to Los Angeles for a date with the defending champion LA Sparks on Tuesday night. They return home to host the New York Liberty on Friday at the College Park Center.
